Top tips for finding a cheap flight out of the United Kingdom

  • The three major airports in Switzerland are located in Basel, Geneva and Zurich. Taking flights to Zurich Airport (ZRH) pretty much places you in the heart of Switzerland and from there, you can very easily travel to other areas, such as Lucerne, Bern and even on to Liechtenstein. With such great rail connections, Zurich is a good base for travelling around Switzerland.
  • Basel is a great place to fly to if you want to take short trips to Germany and France while in Switzerland. Basel’s main airport is EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (BSL). As its name already suggests, the airport is conveniently located for travel to Basel, Mulhouse (France) and Freiburg (Germany).
  • As for Geneva Airport (GVA), it is only just over 3 mi from Geneva and 93 mi from Lyon, France. Geneva Airport is a good place to fly to if you would like to take a skiing holiday in Switzerland, as many ski resorts are located in the area.
  • If you would like to travel to a less touristy area, Ticino is a good option. The nearest airport is Lugano Airport (LUG), however, flights to Zurich Airport are more frequent and it is only about 100 mi away. Additionally, the international airports of Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa and Milan Orio al Serio are all less than 1h away from Ticino. Note that you should not cover your face (e.g. wear masks, balaclavas, etc.) in public places in Ticino and may be fined if you do so.
  • As a British citizen, you do not currently need a visa for short stays in Switzerland. Your passport just needs to be valid for your entire stay in Poland. It might be worthwhile checking current government advice on travel to Switzerland to make sure you have any necessary documentation.
  • It is a requirement throughout Switzerland that all kids under the age of 12 be strapped into child restraint systems. You do not need to fly with your child's seat, as you can easily hire them from the respective car hire agencies on arrival. Additionally, all child restraints must conform to the UNECE regulations. You can easily hire a car seat at your car hire company.
  • If travelling with kids, consider flying to Zurich Airport (ZRH) to find cheap flights to Switzerland. To help make travelling with the little ones easier, the airport has a quiet breastfeeding area. It also has playrooms where kids can relax for a while before leaving the airport. Getting to the city centre from this airport is also easy, since it's only about 6 miles (10 km) away.
  • Zurich is a well-developed town with several transfer options, including bus, shuttle and train. The train station is within the terminal building and departs roughly every 5-10min, getting you to the city centre in about 15min. On the other hand, the bus is easily accessible within the terminal, getting you to the city centre in about 35-40min.

Delayed 30 mins Forced to check in my carry on luggage

The cushion of the seats are old and very thin. The food can be more tasty or come with salt packages

The biggest let down was with booking experience through Kayak. I booked a flight with checked bags on Kayak. Right away I got a message from travel agency that the flight is not confirmed and to call them. I called them and they said the flight I have booked is no longer available with the price I have booked it for and I can book it with about $100 more. I already had other options I could book with cheaper price so I asked them to cancel my booking. Then they said I can have the ticket with the same price but a date change which was not working for me as I had to be there for a seminar. So again I said no then they said they will cover the charges and confirm my flight. When comes time for check-in I see I have no checked bag option which means the travel agency deceived me saying I can have my booking as I had booked it. And at that point I ended up paying $155 for my checked bag going back and forth. I am extremely angry and unhappy with this experience

PLEASE DONT TAKE FORCEFULLY(SIZE APPROPRIATE) CARRY ONS FROM PASSENGERS WHO FOR SOME REASON NEED TO KEEP IT

It was great. My seat was comfortable. The bathrooms were clean . The service was superb . I travel a lot and I have been in 64 counties. I wish I could fly first class, even though I could , but I prefer to budget my yearly travelling expense on actual visiting , not on flight. Anyway, my point is that your economy was far much better than other airlines as good as Air France. The flight attendants and all crew were polite and very helpful and respectful. Thank you for making my long trip tolerable.

The service was flawless. The trip went great. I flew from Venice, Italy to Tampa, Florida. The issue is my bag (that I checked for free when checking into the flight) was ripped along the side when I collected it from baggage claim in Tampa, last night. I thought of talking with the Tampa baggage claim employees about it and see what could be done, but my bag isn’t a very expensive bag and I didn’t want to make a big deal of it. I’m not sure if I’ll be checking a bag anymore in the future.

My luggage did not make the connection and 4 days later I still have not received it.

We're talking about a short-haul in-country flight.. there is no confort, no food, just the bottle of water. The seats are squeezed like hell and I was in the back-end of the plane, with one spare row left for the crew and to store excess bags that could not fit in the overhead bin.. Speaking of carry-on, some passengers should be better screened as their bags were simply too big to fit in the overhead bins.. ! How can this happen, and it was an A310, with 2 columns of 3-seater rows.. There is a pseudo-Business class, which is simply a section in the front of the plane where the same seats are occupied only 2 out of 3, on each side, leaving more rooms for the passengers and their bags. That's it.

We are flying with Swiss for a long time but this time was terrible do to are flight cancellations we are in some bad hotel with out normal food

It is a good airlines, very professional very good food. I wish they offered free luggage is the only thing.

We were charged a ridiculous amount for a name spelling error on ticket which I would’ve corrected if I received pre-check info more than 1/2hr before flight. Then we were told at ticket counter that our bags were fine for boarding but then we’re charged another ridiculous amount to take in our luggage despite being told differently. Flight itself was great. Charges were unfair.

Apart from an email about re configuring passenger seating less than 24hrs before flying it was all good.

There were a lot (4 I think) of EasyJet flights leaving Agadir, we arrived two and a half ours before our flight. Very slow to get through the booking in, passport control and security!! We had booked in on line but had to Queue with others who had not to drop our bags off!,

We boarded and then sat on the tarmac for an hour….probably not E Jets fault. But the gentleman that checked us in and took our luggage was exceptionally friendly and calming for early morning/ confused passengers. As always, it’s the people that make or break an experience, right?

I was hesitant to book with a low cost airline due to previous experience but Easy Jet surpassed my expectations. I would definitely book a flight with them again! Seemless booking, upfront about baggage fees, professional, and helpful staff.

Kayak sent several notifications that the flight was late. This contradicted the information on the airport boards. This was extremely confusing and we very nearly missed the flight purely because we double checked with the info desk when the flight stays said’closed’. Kayak notifications are therefore unreliable and pointlesa

Usual issues with flight delay. Perennial problem of travel by plane.

i didnt go this was a hacker booked this flight on my debit card !

Delayed almost 2 hours sitting on plane. No updates at all from flight deck and virtually no updates from cabin crew

Long delay resulted in my being unable to catch a train home and resulted in an additional £76 cost for an Uber

LCY airport is an amazing airport and I love the flight from LCY to FRA with BA. Efficient, easy, comfortable and great luggage allownace with BA. I iused to fly predominantley LH, but the service and price - benefit ratio of Lufthansa has deteriorated a lot over the last 5 years. Whereas BA keeps an excellent service level with friendly staff.

Flight Attendant Karen Lynn was an absolute delight. She assisted in every portion of the services provided throughout the flight, aided with any and all concerns expressed by passengers, and even helped comfort an upset child who was one of five of a traveling family. This quality of service is what keeps me coming back to American. Thank you!

The airplane was old. Some things didn’t work out of middle seat was broken. The rest was OK.

The worst, flight cancelled because the aircraft was not full. Heathrow ground crew totally not helpful and arrogant. Lady proposed us flight with 40min layover instead of direct and said it is our problem of course she was unable to do anything as everything was beyond her control she claimed. after calling on hotline another flight was booked. Flight was cancelled last second so we could not take direct from Zurich but we had to stay overnight in London.

I have noticed that the airlines, including this flight, pretend there is going to be turbulence, announce such, and say they can’t do beverage service. There is no turbulence and the seat belt light goes off 10 minutes before they ask for tray tables up and seat belts back on. They are just trying to spend less money and it’s quite transparent

Very quick boarding. I was surprised we only got a small water and small thing of cookies, everything else was for purchase. No entertainment. Crew was excellent though.

Flight delayed in terms of boarding and Kayak was great in updating but the team on the groping at British Airways were really poor

A basic tea/ coffee and a snack could be provided especially for long distance flyers.

The information in the airport, and the app was different. Be aware. Different terminals in Stuttgart, so we had to walk a lot. It's a small airport so it wasn't a big deal, but it was ludicrous to see the error in the app.

Flight was delayed and there was boarding pass and flight information errors resulting in confusion and stress
