Pros:Flight was on time, no charge for checked baggage, a sandwich and juice were served, and it was all for the price of a budget carrier.
Cons:In flight entertainment system was not working. Then again, who expected an in-flight entertainment system at this price point?!

Cons:An attendant working in the check-in was very rude. I was unable to check in using the kiosk so I requested assistance from an attendant near the kiosks. The attendant refused to assist me and told me to wait until the other attendant was free. That attendant then helped the white man next to me.

Pros:The overall service and polite crew and ticketing staff. They couldn't be more helpful. I've crossed the Pacific several times and Virgin get my vote.
Cons:The distance to the aircraft after going through boarding! In Melbourne several people just stopped and sat down on the floor to rest as it was a long, long walk to the actual aircraft. Construction being the cause so probably out of Virgins control.

Pros:Boarding was quick.
Cons:Food, especially for vegetarian is not good. All meals come with a bag with hard bread and apple! No Salad or decent desert with meal... AVML food is horrible, tried VML and that too was bad! No snacks like pretzels, chips or peanuts, so for vegetarian only choice is to stay hungry! Crew was not that friendly.
