pick up was really slow. Multiple staff behind counter but only one serving customers. There was a complication with a customer ahead of me and despite the queue growing none of the other staff opened their desks. Dropped car off to a closed office in the evening and was very disappointed to get a charge for a scratch to the car which i do not believe i caused. I have raised a complaint but very little confidence in a positive outcome. I do not plan to use Goldcar again

Absolutely bad experience. I was overcharged and the car was not the one expected. Avoid

They didn’t have a car reserved for me on arrival, and tried to charge a walk up rate. In the end, I lost the prepaid portion of my rental, sat in the coffee shop opposite and booked online with Avis (for cheaper than what they wanted to charge me). Really disappointed.

Pros:

Brilliant service and great cars.

Cons:

£240 for the rental,great, then they remind me that all Spanish drivers are crazy so it’s best to get their top up insurance at £150 extra!! I know they all do it but I was surprised by the price. Very sour feeling. Get it elsewhere £55 a year! Just check it’s acceptable to the hire firm.

Advising me of damage to car so that I wouldn’t worry that they would blame it on me. On return they advised the damage was preexisting

We were not made aware of the additional charge for a second driver until after returning the car, when it was too late to decline. We mentioned that we had not been made aware that there was a charge and had not signed. We were charged anyway, which almost doubled the rent price

Pros:

Quick and easy pickup. Including excellent response to request to change to a bigger vehicle due to passengers with "too much luggage." And a few days later, could downsize vehicle after getting rid of the overbaggaged passengers. And Hertz made no hard sell for unwanted and overpriced insurance. Absolutely outstanding.
