It was a terrible bad, they have no cars available. They told me I had to wait until there is some returning. And they could not give me any precise time. While I did program the pickup fir 9 am.

Pros:

Nothing. The staff, the facility, the communication was all extremely poor.

Cons:

I made a reservation only to find out that that does not matter. When I arrived, I was informed that they did not have any cars available and I was 8th in line to receive one. I asked why I was not contacted ahead of time. The manager was clueless and just shrugged. I waited for several hours and wasted money on ubers getting there and back. Never received a car or made it to my destination.

Pros:

The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the manager. I asked for a discount because of the tardiness of when my car was available, and he gave it to me without any issue. I had no issue with the local staff and service. It was the company's service that was poor.

Cons:

My car was delivered to me 1.5 hours after my confirmed pick up time because, per the staff, the company had overbooked the location. Very poor and unacceptable planning. I waited outside in standing in the sun for 1.5 hours.

Pros:

Nothing was good about this experience.

Cons:

I waited in line for 3 hours at the South Michigan location. There were no cars available. This location is poorly run. When I finally departed, there were still 12 people ahead of me in line waiting for cars. My reservation was at 10am. I left the South Michigan location at 12:30. I was very unhappy with the service.

I put in a reservation on 3/30/22 They left me a voice mail 4/29/22 to tell me they didn’t have the 12 passenger van I needed to go out of town with for the next day . I was pissed my daughter was graduating from college in another state.

Budget called me two days before my pick up date that they did not have the model of the car that I had booked. They then tried to push a “luxury” model on me for $700 more than my booking price. I told them no thank you, canceled my booking with them (which wasted about 2 hours of my time), and made alternate arrangements.

They initially didn’t have a car for us and told us they wouldn’t honor our reservation if the previous renter extended their reservation (which they did), which would have left our family stranded in Chicago. At one point they told us they didn’t have any cars available (which was weird because their lot seemed full of cars. To their credit, after pleading with the manager he agreed to give us a Prius, which we accepted. The whole experience was stressful. Although they were able to get us a car, I’ll never use Budget again

I was not able to rent the car I had reserved. I made a reservation well in advance. I was required to provide my driver’s license number at least twice before the day I was scheduled to pick up the rental car. Day of pick-up their system rejected my license, which is not expired and there are no traffic violations associated. No one could tell me the reason for the rejection. I am able to board airplanes without incident using using the same license. Ultimately, I had to purchase a very expensive ticket to fly home. This issue should have been addressed before the day of the rental.

Pros:

The people at Hertz, particularly Peter and the store manager, were fantastic. Super helpful when Priceline gave me the wrong pick-up time.

Cons:

Priceline and Kayak told me to arrive at 5PM to pick up the car, and when I arrived Hertz told me they close at 5 and final pickup is 4:45. Priceline and Kayak should be telling people these things! They shouldn't say "arrive at 5" when that's the closing time. It almost ruined my trip, but fortunately the people at Hertz broke the rules and let me in to rent their last car.

Car rentals are a total scam. Someone made a mistake on this rental (maybe me) and reserved it at the wrong location. (Chicago city instead of Chicago airport) It was rebooked at more than double the price. And then they have the unmitigated gall to charge me $15/day for a toll pass to handle $4 in tolls. Because there are no toll booths any more. I don't know why it seems normal to browse for prices like "$45/day" and then pay $200/day instead. Car rentals are just a *&($#& scam and you guys are no help in navigating it. Disgraceful. Why can't we browse by the *actual* price we expect to pay? Why is there this endless list of add-on fees and taxes? Why is it that after chiseling me out of all the money with the fees and toll plates, they are free to chisel me out of gas money? It's just a *&#$^* scam from one end to the other, but sadly it's very hard to get to some places without it. Kayak could do a much better job trying to help, but you don't.
